The Tear Down

The Story of Josephine A MGA Restoration

I have been accused of having more fun taking Jo a part - piece by piece - than anything else. My only defense is that since I am not a mechanic how else will I learn what makes her run and look so great.  Of course I fully realize the old axiom of the left over bolt or nut.  Fortunately I have a lot of good resources to keep me honest.

The photos just to the right will show you where I am at in the restoration process as I write this page (October 11, 2007).  As mentioned before, the original plan was not to do a "frame-off" restoration but I literally did find myself at the point where there were only the 24 (or so) bolts holding the body on.  While the thought of removing the body was a little frightening, it didn't take much pushing for me to go down that road.  Except for tearing the engine down (this will come later) there is nothing else to take a part.  Keep an eye out for future pages to see if I am getting her back together.
